I learned from my friend Sparkle on Facebook: http://www.sparklecat.com/ about National Feral Cat Day. While in Kauai last month, there were many feral cats outside my time share:
I was very proud of the above photo of a cat and bird. As it turns out, cats and chickens are known to get along really well. There were signs all over saying not to feed the cats. Although, I'm all for spay/neuter programs so more homeless cats aren't pro-created, I'm not for starving living animals.
We recently took in 3 four week old VERY feral kittens who were playing in the street. It may sound funny, but they were very MEAN at first! Once we were able to spend time and play with them, they became friendlier by the minute. They also enjoy the good food we gave them frequently:
I am very grateful that our local Humane Society is going to take them in after they are spay/neutered. I have no doubt that they will be placed in wonderful homes by the very capable and well trained volunteers who work there. So, please don't be afraid to help or at least feed or tell people to feed a homeless cat(s) in the future.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
